Most of us eat poorly and rarely exercise but when it comes time to get in shape we all want to lose weight fast. There are many popular diets floating around now and some diets work faster than others, so the amount of weight you lose and finding the fastest way to lose weight depends on one thing… you.

What do I mean? Well the Atkins Diet is a popular way to lose weight quickly but it requires a lot of personal sacrifice in the form of giving up carbohydrates for at least two weeks. Some of us can give up carbs very easily, while others of us can barely last a day before giving in.

If you think you want to give Atkins a shot, you really need to understand yourself and if you’re the type of person who cheats every once in a while, Atkins is not for you. Even a small bite of chocolate can ruin two or three weeks worth of Atkins success by knocking your body out of ketosis. If you have a tendency to cheat and you’re looking for something a little easier to stick with, give the Weight Watchers points plan or Body for Life a shot. Neither diet will help you lose weight fast, but you will lose weight gradually, which is a very healthy way to lose weight. Most importantly, both diets focus on the essentials like what to eat, how much to eat and how often to exercise. You wont be eating ice cream and pizza every day but the plans are relatively easy to follow and they allow you a cheat day or cheat meal every once in a while to help keep you sane. I have personally used both diets and done very well on both.

Still looking for a fast weight loss program but aren’t sold on any of the diets I described earlier? Try exercising every single day. Most of us do way too much sitting around, at work, in front of the TV or on the computer, we just aren’t up and around as much as we used to be. Losing weight quickly really isn’t rocket science and doesn’t really require some special diet like cabbage soup or a master cleanser, it requires you to burn more calories than you eat. It’s a simple formula right?

Reading this you might be saying “but I hate exercise”, well my response to that is that exercise doesn’t have to be boring! Do you have a pet? Play catch. Do you have kids? Chase them around the yard. Exercise isn’t always lifting weights or running on a treadmill… it’s being active and not sitting around all day. Play golf, shoot some hoops or just go for a walk… it’s really not all that hard right?
One last tip to help lose weight fast, or at least faster, find a friend who is also interested in finding a good way to lose weight and do it together. You’d be amazed how a dieting partner helps to motivate you, especially if you’re both competitive. Have skinny friends? Try joining a Weight Watchers type group and get even more motivation. Most health insurance companies will contribute to the cost because you being healthy costs them less on your doctor visits.

Bottom line, it’s not really all that hard to lose weight quickly, all it takes is motivation and determination. If you find a weight loss program you like, give it everything you have and stick with it. Before you know it you’ll burn fat and feel great.
